Game Design Document

Game Design Document

For this week's project assignment, we had to create a Game Design Document for our proposed game idea using the site Dundoc.com

At first I found it very confusing on how to get started, and I kept filling out the wrong things in my GDD (I kept on making new elements instead of adding to existing ones.. whoops!) but after a few minutes I figured out my error and was able to fill out my GDD.

I found that the templates provided on the site were very helpful and kept me on track when discussing the design of my game. Though a lot of it I couldn't fill in, because I did not understand it or it was way too advanced for my current stage of development.

Doing my Game Vision Statement last week actually helped me out a ton while doing this! I felt that I went into a lot of detail last week, but it ended up being very beneficial as I was able to use a lot of my vision statement in my GDD.

I'm looking forward to developing my GDD more as I develop my project in the coming weeks!

  1. Hey Kayleigh,

I am very happy to see that you are at a good place right now where you know what you are doing and have a pretty good idea when it comes to planning your game. I am very impressed by the amount of detail that you put in DunDuc for your game. I was wondering about your game where you have to survive what happens after you survive, do you get put in leader board or do you just rank it by the amount of days you survived. I was wondering that you should probably make the spawn rate for more dangerous or unpredictable weather or animal because I feel like it will make it more exciting and spice up the game half way through. I really enjoyed reading your blog and I hope you have more of the actual game made when I come back to read your blog

  2. Well hello and a good day to You Kayleigh.

Well well well, someone has clearly made a well structured and an amazing effort into their game design Document as it was so chock full of very interesting material and it helped me to see the world of the game better that you have crafted from your mind. There is a lot of great potential going on here with your game itself that it definitely be an interesting game to see fully fleshed out. If I had one question it would be in terms of when you are surviving, besides the whole elements, hunger, thirst and your well being, my main question is I feel you will be surviving against the basic animals you would see in the real world like wolves, bears and other dangerous wildlife, but would their be the likes of a somewhat fantasy creatures out to get you like orcs, trolls, goblins and what not (I may be looking into this too much). I would suggest some concepts that you could implement but I think that you have a perfect amount of content for this concept of yours and I look forward to seeing how it will all turn out in the end, because no matter how well you think it will turn out, it will be great no matter what.

    Cheerio!!
